Incident Strikes While Team Out on Walk
A disturbing incident took place in Indore during the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, where two members of the Australia women’s cricket team were allegedly stalked and one was reportedly molested by a man on a motorcycle. The players were taking a short walk to a café when the incident occurred.
The shocking event came just hours after Australia’s victory over England in the ongoing tournament. Following the report from team officials, police in Indore quickly launched an investigation and later detained a suspect from the Khajrana Road area.
MPCA Calls for Better Security for International Women Cricketers
The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) reacted strongly, expressing “shock and deep concern” over the incident. In an official statement, the association said that “no woman should endure such trauma, especially while representing her country.”
MPCA further assured that it would review existing security measures and work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure such incidents never happen again. The association also pointed out that this episode could harm India’s image as a welcoming and safe host for international sporting events.
Officials added that protecting the dignity and safety of visiting players must remain a top priority for organizers and local authorities alike.
Authorities Act as Arrest Is Made in Indore
According to police reports, the accused allegedly followed the players and inappropriately touched one of them before fleeing. A detailed investigation is ongoing to determine whether there were any security lapses.
Cricket Australia confirmed the incident in a brief statement: “Two members of our women’s team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist. The matter has been reported to police, who are handling it.” The board also thanked local authorities for their swift response.
The MPCA said it would coordinate with Cricket Australia to provide full support to the affected players, including access to counselling services if needed.
