Rohit and Kohli Lead India’s Commanding Chase

India finished their Australia tour on a strong note with a superb nine-wicket win in the third and final One Day International (ODI) at the Sydney Cricket Ground. However, the victory was not enough to clinch the series, as Australia had already secured an unbeatable 2–0 lead after the first two games.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rolled back the years with a stunning partnership during India’s chase. Rohit played a classic innings, scoring an unbeaten 121, while Kohli supported him perfectly with 74 not out. The duo added 168 runs for the second wicket and took India home with 69 balls to spare. Their calm and confident batting reminded fans of their peak years together at the crease.

Australia’s Batting Falters in Final Match

Batting first, Australia managed 236 runs before being bowled out. The Indian bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings, not allowing the hosts to build big partnerships. Despite a few solid starts, Australia’s middle and lower order struggled to convert them into a competitive total.

Australia’s earlier performances, however, had set the tone for the series. Youngsters like Matthew Short and Cooper Connolly stepped up in the first two ODIs, building key partnerships that helped Australia take an early lead. But in the final game, they couldn’t repeat the same consistency against a sharper Indian bowling attack.

India End Strong, But Series Belongs to Australia

For India, this match was a reminder of their strength when senior players step up. Though the team lost the series, the final performance gave them a morale boost ahead of their upcoming home fixtures. The return to form of both Rohit and Kohli was a major positive, especially as questions had been raised about India’s batting depth earlier in the tour.

On the other hand, Australia can be pleased with their overall series performance. Their composure and depth helped them clinch the first two matches, ensuring a series win before the final game. While the last match didn’t go their way, the hosts had already done enough to seal a 2–1 victory.

In the end, it was a fitting finale — India dominated the last game, but Australia’s early success earned them a well-deserved series win.
