On the flip side, the Titans are likely to let go of a few players who didn’t consistently impact the team or whose positions are already crowded. Names being speculated for release include Kusal Mendis, Sherfane Rutherford, Dasun Shanaka, Gerald Coetzee, Karim Janat, and Kumar Kushagra. These moves seem driven not only by performance but also by budget management and the need to balance overseas player slots.

Trade rumours and strategy ahead
Trade rumours have also been active around GT. One major story suggested that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wanted to bring back all-rounder Washington Sundar, but the Titans reportedly declined offers — including both player swap and cash deals. Sundar therefore looks set to remain in GT’s setup for 2026.
